The Role:
The jobholder will join the core team responsible for building and maintaining models used to predict customer behaviour in order to target sales, marketing and risk management activities. They will take on a series of projects all the way from specifying the project through data extraction to development and implementation of a new model. The models developed by the risk analyst team will play a critical role in enabling our client to acquire profitable customers cost-effectively.
The jobholder will be an excellent Analyst first and foremost, but must also be able to manage stakeholders across the business, and manage complicated business changes through to delivery.
This job can be tailored to individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels. Experienced candidates will be expected to able to operate independently in critical and/or contentious areas. Close guidance and training is available for candidates starting out in their careers, as is the opportunity to learn SAS programming and modelling skills in a real-world situation. Promotion prospects and secondment abroad are real options within this company, as is the offer to gain some real transferable skills in Modelling, Analysis and Programming.
A background in Risk management or financial services is not essential for candidate able to demonstrate strong aptitudes for this role.
The People:
* A numerate degree, with a strong statistics component - Operational Research, Applied Statistics, Statistical Modelling, Mathematics, Economics(Econometrics), Mathematical Physics, Physics, AstroPhysics, PhD Graduates and MSc Grads....
* Personality - the ability to explain technical information to a non-technical audience, and problem solving skills are required
* Spreadsheet skills, as well as some statistical programming experience - Matlab, VB, C+, Fortran, SPSS, S-Plus, R, Maple, SAS etc
The Interview process involves 2 stages - 1x set of tests which are done from your own home via the internet, and the other - a 2.5 hour interview with numerous members, senior and junior - of the Risk team. Decisions are made the following day and employment could commence within 2 weeks or 2 months.
